simply amazing, always for you.
In John 13:34, Jesus gives His disciples a new and important command: “Love one another.” He doesn’t just tell them to love in any way, but specifically says, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
This means that the way we love others should reflect how Jesus loves us. Jesus’ love is:
- Unselfish – He puts others’ needs ahead of His own.
- Sacrificial – He was willing to lay down His life for others, showing the ultimate act of love.
- Unconditional – He loves people no matter their flaws, mistakes, or weaknesses.
Jesus taught this during the Last Supper, shortly before His arrest and crucifixion. By telling His disciples to love in this way, He was preparing them to live as a community of faith after His departure.
The love Jesus describes is not just about feelings or emotions—it’s about action. It’s about being patient, kind, forgiving, and putting the well-being of others first. When we love like this, it shows others what it means to follow Jesus, making love the identifying mark of His followers.
In simple terms, Jesus is saying: “Treat others with the same care, kindness, and forgiveness I have shown you. This is how the world will know you belong to me.”
