From Blindness to Belief: A Life Transformed by Jesus

John 9:37-38
37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”
38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.

This passage comes from the story of Jesus healing a man who was born blind (John 9). After healing the man, Jesus engages in a dialogue with him. Let’s break it down:

   • Jesus is speaking to the man who was healed. The man had been questioned by the Pharisees about who healed him, and he didn’t initially know who Jesus was because he had never seen Him (he was blind when Jesus healed him). Now, Jesus reveals Himself as the healer and identifies Himself as the Son of Man (a title Jesus often used for Himself, signifying His divine mission and authority).
   • By saying “You have now seen him,” Jesus highlights the man’s physical and spiritual sight. The man can now literally see with his eyes and also begins to “see” who Jesus truly is — the Savior.
2. “Then the man said, ‘Lord, I believe,’ and he worshiped him.”
   • Upon realizing that Jesus is the Messiah, the man responds with faith and worship. Saying “Lord, I believe” is his confession of faith, acknowledging Jesus as Lord. Worshiping Jesus signifies deep reverence and recognition of His divine nature.
   • This is significant because worship in Jewish tradition was reserved for God alone. The man worshiping Jesus shows that he understands Jesus as more than a prophet or healer — He is divine.
