Salad And Go to Permanently Shut Down All Locations After Filing for Bankruptcy

Healthy fast-food chain Salad And Go is preparing to serve its final customers after announcing that it will permanently close all of its remaining restaurants following a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

The Arizona-based company confirmed that every remaining location will cease operations on August 5, 2026, bringing an end to a business that once promised affordable, fresh meals through a unique drive-thru-only concept.

The decision marks a dramatic fall for a brand that quickly gained popularity across the southwestern United States by offering made-to-order salads, wraps, breakfast items and beverages at budget-friendly prices.

Company Says Closure Was a Difficult Decision

In a statement, Salad And Go’s leadership described the shutdown as heartbreaking but necessary after months of financial challenges.

Chief Executive Officer Mike Tattersfield thanked employees, franchise partners, suppliers and loyal customers who supported the company throughout its 13-year journey.

He acknowledged that the business had fought hard to remain operational but ultimately concluded that closing was the only viable option.

Rising Costs and Weak Consumer Spending Hurt Business

Like many restaurant chains across the United States, Salad And Go faced increasing pressure from higher operating expenses, rising food prices and changing consumer spending habits.

Industry analysts say many fast-casual restaurants have struggled as customers cut back on discretionary spending while inflation continued to squeeze household budgets.

The company also pointed to difficulties associated with its rapid expansion strategy, which had stretched resources and increased operational costs.

Fresh Produce Industry Challenges Added Pressure

Salad And Go said declining customer confidence in fresh salad products also affected business following a widely publicized Cyclospora outbreak in July.

However, the company emphasized that its restaurants were not connected to the outbreak and that its food safety standards remained intact.

Despite distancing itself from the incident, executives acknowledged that the broader decline in consumer confidence created additional challenges for the business.

Rapid Growth Could Not Prevent Collapse

Founded in Gilbert, Arizona, in 2013, Salad And Go quickly built a loyal following by offering healthy meals at prices often lower than traditional fast-food competitors.

Its drive-thru-only format allowed customers to receive fresh meals quickly without entering a restaurant, helping the brand expand into several states.

At its peak, the company operated dozens of locations across Arizona and neighboring markets.

Earlier this year, however, the chain began scaling back its footprint by closing restaurants in Texas and Oklahoma as part of restructuring efforts.

Those moves were not enough to stabilize the business.

Employees and Customers Face Uncertain Future

The permanent closure will affect hundreds of employees working across the company’s remaining locations.

Customers who regularly relied on Salad And Go for affordable healthy meals expressed disappointment across social media after learning of the shutdown.

Many praised the chain for making nutritious food accessible while lamenting the loss of one of the few drive-thru restaurants focused on fresh salads.

End of a Once-Promising Brand

The bankruptcy filing closes the final chapter for a company that was once viewed as an innovator in the fast-casual restaurant industry.

Its combination of convenience, affordability and healthier menu options helped it stand out in a competitive market dominated by traditional fast-food giants.

Despite its early success, economic pressures, operational challenges and shifting consumer behavior ultimately proved too difficult to overcome.

With all remaining restaurants expected to close permanently, Salad And Go’s shutdown serves as another reminder of the financial pressures facing restaurant operators across the United States.

As customers visit the chain for one last meal, the company leaves behind a legacy of trying to redefine healthy fast food through speed, affordability and fresh ingredients.
