We Ain’t Done Yet… Expect Another One.

A deadly school shooting in Thailand has left the country stunned after police said a teenage student allegedly killed his grandparents before travelling to his school and opening fire, killing six more people.

The suspect, believed to be 14 years old and a ninth-grade student, allegedly carried out the attack at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi province, north of Bangkok, on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Police said the teenager ultimately killed eight people, including his two grandparents, three teachers and three students. At least 15 other people were reportedly injured during the shooting.

The incident triggered a major emergency response as heavily armed police officers, rescue workers and medical teams rushed to the school while students and staff were moved to safety.

Teen allegedly killed grandparents first

According to police, the teenager first went to the home of his grandparents before making his way to the school.

Investigators said both grandparents were shot dead.

Police believe the weapon used in the attack was a 9mm handgun belonging to the suspect’s grandfather, who was reportedly a teacher.

The circumstances surrounding the killings at the family home remain part of the investigation, including what prompted the teenager to target his grandparents.

After leaving the house, the suspect reportedly travelled to Debsirin Nonthaburi School, where he began shooting.

Gunfire sends students into panic

The shooting sparked chaos inside the school as students and teachers attempted to find places to hide.

Witness accounts described students sheltering inside classrooms while gunfire could be heard elsewhere on the campus.

Teachers reportedly tried to protect students as the emergency unfolded.

Police eventually entered the school and began securing the premises while rescuers worked to evacuate students and treat the wounded.

The school is a large secondary institution with thousands of students, making the attack particularly frightening for families waiting outside for information about their children.

Six killed inside school

Later police information clarified that six people were killed at the school.

The victims included three teachers and three students, according to reports from Reuters and the Associated Press.

The deaths, combined with the two grandparents reportedly killed earlier, brought the number of people allegedly killed by the teenager to eight.

At least 15 people were also reported injured.

Early reports from the scene carried lower casualty figures, highlighting the confusion that often surrounds breaking news during a major emergency. Authorities continued revising the numbers as investigators and hospitals established the full extent of the casualties.

Suspect dies after shooting himself

Police said the teenage suspect eventually shot himself.

Emergency responders reportedly found him unconscious after the self-inflicted gunshot wound. He later died.

Investigators are now examining the sequence of events leading up to the attack, including how the teenager obtained access to the firearm and what happened before he travelled to the school.

Police have not established a definitive motive.

Authorities are expected to examine the suspect’s family background, school life, communications and other circumstances that could help explain what led to the violence.

Thailand confronts another mass shooting

The attack has renewed concerns about gun violence and firearm access in Thailand.

The country has experienced several high-profile shootings in recent years, including the 2022 mass shooting at a childcare centre in northeastern Thailand that killed dozens of people.

The latest incident is particularly disturbing because the alleged attacker was himself a student and reportedly used a firearm belonging to a family member.

It also raises fresh questions about how minors can gain access to guns and whether existing safeguards are sufficient to prevent firearms from reaching children.

Investigation continues

Authorities have continued collecting evidence from the school and the suspect’s family home.

Police reportedly recovered ammunition at the scene and are working to establish exactly how many shots were fired during the attack.

Officials are also expected to provide additional information about the victims and the condition of those injured.

For families connected to Debsirin Nonthaburi School, the immediate focus remains on the victims and students who survived the terrifying ordeal.

The shooting has left Thailand facing difficult questions about gun ownership, school security and the circumstances that can lead a young person to commit such devastating violence.

As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to release more information about the teenager’s motive and the events that preceded the attack.

The casualty figures in this report reflect the later police accounts reported by major international news agencies. Because the investigation is ongoing, details may still change.
