Delta Launches First-Ever Service to Paris From Austin in Major Transatlantic Expansion

AUSTIN, Texas — Delta Air Lines is opening a new chapter in Austin’s international aviation story with the launch of the city’s first-ever nonstop service to Paris, giving travelers a direct connection between the Texas capital and one of Europe’s biggest travel hubs.

The airline announced on August 13 that daily seasonal flights between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) will begin March 27, 2027. The service will operate through the summer season and is scheduled to continue until October 24.

The announcement makes Delta the only U.S. airline offering nonstop service from Austin to Europe, marking a significant expansion of the carrier’s presence in one of America’s fastest-growing cities.

Austin gets a direct link to Paris

The new route will eliminate the need for Austin passengers to connect through another U.S. or European airport when traveling to Paris.

Delta plans to operate the flights using its Airbus A330-900neo, a long-haul aircraft equipped with four cabin experiences: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main. The premium Delta One cabin includes lie-flat seating, offering travelers a more comfortable option on the overnight transatlantic journey.

According to the published schedule, flights will depart Austin at approximately 3:15 p.m. and arrive in Paris at 8:15 a.m. the following day. The return flight is scheduled to leave Paris at 10:10 a.m. and arrive in Austin at approximately 2:20 p.m.

Tickets are scheduled to go on sale August 15, according to local reporting.

More than a Paris connection

Delta’s new service is about more than getting passengers to France.

Through its joint venture with Air France-KLM, the airline says travelers arriving in Paris will have access to connections to nearly 70 destinations across Europe, India and Africa. That gives passengers from Central Texas a new one-stop gateway to a much wider international network.

Potential onward destinations include major European cities as well as international markets such as Mumbai and Casablanca.

Delta, Air France and KLM are expected to offer as many as 10 weekly nonstop flights between Austin and Europe during the peak summer period, combining the new Paris service with existing connectivity to Amsterdam.

For businesses in Austin, the route could also provide a valuable connection to European markets.

Austin airport officials and local economic organizations have identified Paris as an important international destination, with the new flight expected to strengthen business, tourism and investment links between Central Texas and France.

Delta is betting heavily on Austin

The Paris announcement is part of a much broader expansion by Delta at Austin-Bergstrom.

The airline says that by summer 2027 it expects to serve approximately 30 destinations from Austin, with more than 70 peak-day departures. Delta currently operates 15 gates at the airport and employs more than 900 people there.

The carrier is also adding new domestic service.

A new daily nonstop route between Austin and San Diego is scheduled to begin April 12, 2027. Delta also plans to add another daily flight between Austin and San Jose, California, while extending its Austin-Cancun service beyond the winter season.

The expansion reflects Delta’s growing ambitions in Austin, where the airline has increased its operations substantially in recent years.

Since 2019, Delta has more than doubled its peak-day departures from Austin and nearly tripled the number of destinations it serves from the city since 2021, according to reporting on the expansion.

A boost for Austin’s global ambitions

Austin has become one of the most rapidly expanding metropolitan areas in the United States, attracting technology companies, entrepreneurs, international businesses and a growing population of travelers.

The new Paris route comes as the city’s airport seeks to strengthen its international network.

Austin already has nonstop European links to destinations including Amsterdam, Frankfurt and London, but Paris has long been viewed as a particularly important addition to the airport’s international route map.

Austin Mayor Kirk Watson described the new connection as an opportunity to strengthen cultural and economic ties between the two cities.

For Delta, meanwhile, the route represents an opportunity to capture international business travelers and affluent leisure passengers while strengthening its position against competitors in Austin.
